What Is The New Game on The Yard?

As we launch this dynamic platform of “Always-On” content, the first theme we had to highlight was HBCU Esports. As technology continues to invent lucrative pathways to reimagine a variety of industries, gaming has become top tier engagement amongst digital communities. This has created a lane for HBCUs to build the next generation of industry leaders through their STEM programs.

For so long, gaming has been looked at as a mindless pastime but studies are showing that it could improve cognitive skills. When you combine that detail with engineering, marketing, content creation, buying and selling there becomes an entire ecosystem to cultivate. Right now HBCUs are entering this space with a grassroots approach but with an active intention for growth by building labs, creating esports leagues, and expanding aspects of homecoming to include digital competition. There are moments in culture where we are literally watching and participating in the next wave of innovation, and it is our belief that this is one of those times. How could we pass this up?


We will take a look at why brands should start paying attention, expeditiously. The best ways to engage this culture and audience. Where we foresee this emergence going, and what schools are leading the way. Be sure to stay plugged in while we venture into the world of HBCUs and eSports.
